Graham Mackie graduated from the National Art School in 1972 & then completed a DipEd at Sydney Teachers College - he was then sent to Dubbo South High School from 1974 -1980 before a move to Maclean High School in 1981 until 1997. He then took up a position as Head Coach of the Gold Coast District Cricket Club until 2000 when he moved back to Yamba.
In 2003 Graham purchased land on the Mann River 80kms west of Grafton & formed Coombadjha Art Studio with an Art Gallery & camping grounds for artists, campers & kayakers.
In recent years Graham has started artCamp on his property embracing like minded artists to enjoy the area & share their knowledge with others - it usually runs over the 2nd or 3rd weekend in September - all artists camp on the river.
Every year in October he has an Exhibition of recent work at the The Old Kirk Gallery in Yamba.
As well as Landscape painting Graham is a photographer & also draws in a variety of mediums such as graphite/oil pastels/charcoal/crayon.
In 2016 he was Artist in Residence for a month at the Clarence Valley Council Plunge Festival in Yamba & also worked in Kimba in South Australia.
